Kitty Litter Box Table DIY

So the title doesn't sound very appealing, but i promise it's cute! and convenient.
Most of you know I recently let a little Hermy kitten into my room. I haven't had cats in the house since... I was twelve. And then I didn't have a litter box in my room. Along came Hermy, and I quickly found out how ugly litter boxes are.. and stinky.
Skip forward a few weeks to my mother and I standing around my table that looked something like the picture to the right at the time. I hated the drawer in it, it was ugly and didn't fit in right, so I just took it out. My mother came up with the wonderful idea to turn my table into a litter box hider. Apparently people do this all the time. Anyways, loved the idea, so we went to the thrift store and found some fabric. Score!

Look at that pretty fabric. (I have some leftover, too. Oh the things I'll make) After a fresh coat of paint, I made the curtains. No sewing involved.. just a little hot glue. Someday I will learn to sew like a pro. I pleated the fabric, glued it to a ribbon, then velcroed it to the table. Simple enough.
Aren't the little tie back curtains cute? Of course Hermy doesn't appreciate them. He also seems to think that it's a playhouse, not a bathroom. I'm hoping I don't come home one day and it's ripped to shreds.

So here's my Mom's fantastic idea brought to life. Anyone do anything else creative to hide their litter boxes?
Happy almost Friday everyone!

    1. These are great! I have two large male cats and they spray the back of the box; the high rear wall of these boxes keeps liquid from escaping and running down the exterior. In addition, the clear tops allow me to see the boxes' contents for thorough scooping without the extra step of removing the lids. And the cats seem to enjoy the increased visibility as well as the extra-large size.

NOTE: I received this product at a discount for sharing my unbiased experience.

  3. Great Idea- I found a piece of furniture- Can't wait to make the curtains! I pulled the furniture away from the wall so the kitties can walk behind it so the litter box is fully covered. Thanks for the great idea!

  5. Hi, I'm a little late to the party, but I want to do this to put a second litter box in my bedroom. I've been looking at all the other tutorials out there to turn cabinets into hidden litter boxes but don't have to required tools and this seems easier. Does this made the odor more tolerable too? Or just act to hide the litter box from sight?

    1. Hey! This pretty much only keeps the litter box out of sight. It also keeps the litter mostly confined but the smell- not so much.

  8. Favorite Enclosed Cat Litter Box from Bizarkdeal.
Had my cats for 13 years, and wish I would have found this box sooner. Cleaning up after a cat that does not like to squat when he pee can be a second job. Used others like this that were smaller but urine gets in the cracks and clips that keep box together, very messy. Oh Boy! but not with this box, LOVE IT!! Now my cat cannot raise his booty high enough, even when on some few occasions he tries to go real high and urine hits the seam and clasps of this box, still no problem, because the box is so well made an designed for a high riser like my boy. Cant really explain it well the the seams are very long and strong and protects the urine from going into the cracks and clamps. Trust me, spent the extra cash and buy this box if you have a non squatter, you will not be disappointed.

  9. So, since it has been awhile since you made this litter box coverup, i’m Curious as to how it worked out? Did your cat tear the curtains? Do you have to wash them a lot? I would like to make something like this for a 2nd litter box in my sewing room. I was thinking of using laminated fabric that can be wiped off easily.
